Online streamyx hot spot has become more and more popular over the years. More people signed up and played poker online in 2006 than ever before. An industry now worth over $6 billion USD provides many with the excitement and thrill of playing poker, from the comfort of their home.

No longer do people have to frequent seedy clubs or smokey rooms to join in the thrill of the game. Poker games provide all the requirements at the touch of a button. There is also one additional element that is added when you play online, and that is the implementation of fraud detection, something which does not occur in a land-based poker game.

Online poker has allowed people of all age groups and skill levels to join in. It is a game which is easy to participate, as online poker has removed the fear of failure, as you are able to sign-up and remain anonymous to those you are playing against, while still able to practise and improve your ability to play.

One of the reasons why online poker (along with other online casino or bingo streamyx business broadband has grown so rapidly over recent years is the improvements made to broadband technology coupled with a reduction in cost to speed ratio, when signing up with an internet service provider (ISP).

Many people who have been playing online poker have been playing for many months or even years. They probably tm net my streamyx on a dial-up connection with 56kbps. This meant that not only would the poker site load slowly, but also that their game was prone to losing connection and their frustration was likely to ever increase.

Now, with speeds up to 8mbps available with companies likes BT, not only poker operators but poker players themselves are starting to see the benefits of changing to a new internet service provider. No longer do they have the frustration of waiting for the site or game to download and no more do they experience the level of disconnection as with a dial-up.

This has improved the overall poker experience tenfold. Some players are even playing with two, three or four Streamyx open at one time, as they try to maximise the profit playing on multiple tables from multiple poker networks. This would not have been possible before high-speed broadband became available.

But with the complexity of broadband packages available, how does one know whether to change to a new service provider and if so, which one to choose.

Firstly you should perform a test on your broadband connection. While some providers promise 2, 3 or even 8mbps, the distance of your house from the exchange has a major impact on your connection. Line attenuation (reduction in signal over increased length of cable) is responsible for this slow speed. Also, some service providers who promise high speeds deliver these only to new customers, leaving existing customers without the benefits. Perhaps even ask a neighbour who has ADSL to see if their connection with their provider is any better.

Try thinkbroadband.com, an internet monitor which provides a testing option. If available, make sure you select to test from a server near you for a more accurate response.

Many poker players are happy with a 1mbps connection but benefits can tmnet streamyx promotion gained by streamyx promotion to a 2 or 3mbps connection and indeed by changing to a new internet provider. This is one area of technology where loyalty does not pay. If you have been with the same internet provider for over a year without your speed being upgraded, consider getting in touch to gain an upgrade or make a switch.

Ofcom, the telecoms regulator, will next month release new regulations obliging internet service providers to provide a migration authorisation code to help you switch providers more efficiently.

Consider also moving to a smaller independent provider. The likes of Orange, Talk Talk and AOL have shown to be rated poorly for the common factors like reliability, speed and customer service. Only BT and NTL Telewest have proven top for these factors amongst the Streamyx organisations. Smaller providers likes Zen (who came top in a recent poll) and Madasafish are deemed to be two quality internet providers and are definitely worth a call.

Whoever, you choose, you can be sure that the benefits of playing with a fast broadband connection will improve your experience. Being able to load graphics quickly, download games quickly and event connection to two, three or four sites simultaneously will give you an even greater poker thrill that you are already experiencing.

Flashing Red Lights on Xbox 360 - Don't Panic! All You Have to Do is Follow These Tips

You sit down streamyx free pc some serious gaming, and tmnet streamyx speed you see it, a red light on your Xbox, or maybe multiple red lights! Is it time to panic yet? No, because most problems with the Xbox 360 are easy enough to fix. Here are some tips on how to easily solve some common problems.

If your system has overheated:

If your Xbox is showing the top left and bottom left lights flashing, then your system is cooking! This shouldn't be a big problem Streamyx it's just a matter Streamyx cooling her down to get things up and running again. Overheating is bad, as with any computer system, and it can cause your games to freeze up while you're playing. If your system does succumb to overheating, simply shut it off and give it some time to cool down. Make sure the fan is running and that the vents aren't blocked, and you should be fine. Running a cold bath for you and your system is however, a very bad idea.

If your system's hardware is generally erroneous:

If you're seeing flashing red on all but the top right light, then you've got yourself a general hardware error. There is nothing to panic about here either. The first thing to try is the good ol' restart. Switch your system off, give it a few seconds and then turn it back on. If the problem hasn't gone away, then turn the system off, remove the hard drive and turn the system back on. There's a good chance your lights will all be green, and if so, simply turn the system off again, stick the hard drive back in and restart.

If all your lights are flashing, your AV cable needs to get its act together:

All four lights flashing means the AV cable can't be detected. The obvious first attempt at a fix for this is to make sure it's plugged in properly in the first place. If it is, unplug it and then re-attach it. No luck? Try wiping down the contact surfaces with a clean, dry cloth. Sometimes these surfaces get dirty, and that can cause problems. A good wipe may do the trick. If it doesn't though, then it might be time to invest in a new cable.

If just the bottom right light is flashing, your hardware has failed. Time to let your inner mechanic out.

A single red light flashing in the bottom right corner means you have a hardware failure. This could be any number of errors, and you should see an error code on your screen. This code will allow you to figure out the exact error you're dealing with. In the case of a hardware failure, you'll probably need to do a little more invasive fixing. It isn't hard, and anyone can do it, so long as they have good instructions! Streamyx want to hit the net and find yourself a quality repair guide for this one. Poking around without being sure of what you're doing first will probably do more harm than good.

Now that you know some simple steps you can take to help your Xbox when it's sick, hopefully you should have no trouble when any future snafu's come up during your gaming. Remember though, if you do need to do a more involved repair (as with a hardware failure), make sure to do your research first! It could mean the difference between fixing your system or turning it into an expensive paper weight!

For the XBox 360 repair guide I personally recommend, click here to check out The 3 Red Light Fix Repair Guide. The 3 Red Light Repair Guide will show you how to fix your red ring of death problems in one hour or less guaranteed. The guide also comes with video demonstrations so you can watch demonstrations of exactly what to do.

Business Prospects Of Wimax -- An ISP point of View

The prospects for best broadband deals technology as a viable business opportunity are often the subject of debate amidst numerous actual or perceived challenges. Applying these innovative insights can make these arguments and challenges disappear.

Unlike most people's expectation of rural deployments, broadband cable providers might consider targeting SME's in urban areas. There are several reasons for this:

?There kuala lumpur malayasia a growing demand in business for bandwidth capable of carrying symmetrical traffic, for voice, applications and uploading of larger files.

?There is a small but growing need for separated last mile services. Currently, however many wired service providers you have, they all use the incumbents' last mile infrastructure based on its nearest telephone exchange location unless you have paid for an expensive dig from the next nearest exchange. This leads to single points of failure and the potential for business communications to be down for days, as can happen say with a cable duct fire somewhere in the spoke.

Your worst case environment would be a very high-density urban area with lots of interfering buildings, has multiple fibre networks, ADSL and SDSL in every exchange, hundreds of competing suppliers, a restrictive property planning regime with many 'listed' buildings, and no spare spectrum for FWA except the public 5.8GHz band.

To do this, because of the scale of competition from other service providers, your model needs to be disruptive. It has to offer things that businesses need (like QoS, toll-quality VoIP, high-quality video, symmetric bandwidth, higher capacities and network separation etc) at a lower cost.

This means stripping all unnecessary cost out of the model. You'll benefit from a quality RF planning tool that gives you a major advantage over other operators - mapping exactly where you can provide service, how to set up the customer antenna, what bandwidth can be achieved etc, based on your base-stations. You need to know exactly how to tune base-stations to avoid blackspots - without needing an RF team.

Although malaysia package and WiMAX often get confused, they are very different from an operators perspective. Wi-Fi is plug and play with no control over the wireless interface. WiMAX is not, it behaves more like a carrier ATM network. Wi-Fi is built into laptops and handsets, whereas FWA WiMAX requires larger standalone receivers (yours should mount on customer rooftops for optimum utilty).

The benefit is that WiMAX is very spectrally efficient, at least 50% more so than 3G networks, so it has much higher data-carrying capabilities in limited spectrum. All Wi-Fi shares the same public spectrum - WiMAX can work across a wide range. Wi-Fi provides service over a range of 100m, your WiMAX needs to provide 10Mbps over a range of 1.3km from a base-station non-line-of sight.

WiMAX can create wireless broadband service networks, Wi-Fi cannot ?not even with mesh networks. However, Wi-Fi with WiMAX backhaul gets some of the benefits of WiMAX as the backhaul such as VPNs. A lot of WiMAX customer equipment will come with Wi-Fi built in.

Dont wait for mobile (802.16e) WiMAX ?your experience with vendors may be that they're around fourteen months to two years behind on their promised delivery dates, and further delays could occur to key requirements. Dont expect good enough 802.16e equipment to build a network with until late 2007 at the earliest, and no usable CPE until 2008 ?as its mobile battery life is crucial and that will take time to get right.

There are big enough markets for FWA now. The most important thing is to grab the scarce resources first ?spectrum etc ?and make them yours. Except in those undeveloped countries without a mobile operator, mobile WiMAX will be very difficult to establish against incumbent operators with large installed bases because the areas covered are important to customers ?which is not a consideration for FWA.

How Does a T1 Line Work?

The phone company's job is to send almost all voice traffic as digital instead of analog signals. Your analog selfcare gets converted to a digital signal by sampling it 8,000 times per second at 8-bit resolution. Almost all digital data is now sent over fiber optic lines, with the phone company using various designations to talk about the maximum load of the fiber optic line.

However, if the T1 line is for carrying data it would then plug into the network's router.

A T1 data phone line can hold about 192,000 bytes per second, which is approximately 60 times more data fuck streamyx with using a normal residential modem. T1 services are much more reliable than an analog modem and can usually carry several people, depending on what tasks they are doing. For example, if hundreds of people are only surfing the Internet, T1 can easily handle such a large number of users. However, if all 100 people were instantaneously downloading MP3 or video files, which is highly unlikely, than this would cause a strain on a T1 service.

A T1 dedicated phone line can cost between $200 and $1,200 per month depending on which T1 provider you choose and where it goes. The internet providers end of the T1 line must be connected to an Internet Service Provider, so the total cost to have a T1 service includes both the phone company's fees and the ISP's fees.

Broadband Internet: Save Your Time and Money

In todays world, people have become so dependent on the Internet that streamyx zone find any useful information, they tend to go online. It is broadband company huge network tm streamyx modem computers with tons of information.

If your area offers a broadband connection, then there is nothing like it. People are tm online increasingly switching over to broadband, which is offering higher speed and cost effective solution over dialups. With broadband, you have an always-on connection with no need to dial to connect to the Internet.

It also saves you an incredible amount of time with the loading of web pages taking not more than just a few seconds.
If you are still wondering if it is worth switching to broadband or not, compare both the services and youll definitely not give a second thought to opting for a broadband connection. If you are looking for speed, then broadband is significantly faster that dial-ups, taking half the time that dialups take. Broadband is a huge help for people downloading movies, songs, and games to their computer.

Another advantage of broadband is that your phone lines will not remain engaged anymore. These days, many vendors are offering incentives such as reduced cost for service, free equipment, rebates on installation charges and other perks for a high-speed broadband service.

Once you switch to broadband, you will yourself realise the truly astounding service of broadband. Youll never want to go back to a dialup service. The ruling will be seized upon cable internet campaigners who claim that BBC News is prejudiced against Israel in its coverage of the Middle East. But the decision to censure Bowen caused anger within the BBC, with some alleging that the trust, which oversees the corporation, was undermining the credibility of its news. The FCC Auction of the 700MHz Spectrum

On January 24 the kuala lumpur mosque ipoh airport for what has been described by the FCC streamyx broadband speed others as "beachfront property": the 700 MHz band of the electromagnetic spectrum. These Ultra High Frequencies are what is now known as channels 52 through 69 on your television dial, and are mandated by the FCC to become www tmnet streamyx on February 19th 2009, as television broadcast networks switch from analog to Digital TV. The auction has drawn 266 applicants and is expected to dump upwards of 15 billion dollars into the U.S. Treasury.

The hype leading lonely planet malaysia to the auction has spurred coalitions of strange bedfellows, pitted free marketers against proponents of open source, and brought the Net Neutrality debate to the wireless arena. Some say that the auction has the potential to reshape the face of telecommunications in the U.S. as a diverse stream of participants, including Google, Qualcom, Cox Communications, EchoStar, the Public Broadcasting Service, and Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, challenge cellular giants AT&T and Verizon head on for a swath of streamyx jumper oceanfront spectrum. So what's all the fuss, and why so much interest in this piece of radio real estate?

The 700MHz band of spectrum has a unique set of properties and capabilities that have not been available to the market since, well, broadband deal television took to the airwaves. Able to penetrate deep into buildings and travel 4 times farther than its peer frequencies, the FCC, as well as many commercial interests, see a once in a lifetime opportunity to build a nationwide wireless broadband network covering metropolitan and rural regions across the country, turning the have nots into the haves, and virtually eliminating the Digital Divide in the U.S..

The United States seriously lags other industrialized countries in broadband coverage, largely due to its geographic immensity, and it has become a priority of the FCC and Congress to remedy the situation utilizing the ever evolving medium of wireless technology. By opening up the bidding to a diverse array of business interests, the possibility of introducing a third pipe to compete with cable and DSL would benefit consumers both economically and choice wise. Additionally, part of the spectrum to be auctioned is reserved for emergency services (i.e. homeland streamyx combo modem an idea spurred by the disastrous lack of communication between first responders in the terrorist attacks of 9-11.

Reality Check

While we all can see the benefit of being able to walk deep into a building without dropping a call, just how robust is the 700MHz band, and how well suited is it for full blown broadband Internet access and all that that implies? There are some who say this band of spectrum is great for coverage and penetration, but it lacks sufficient bandwidth for a robust wireless broadband solution.

Another consideration is which technology the winning bidders will choose to implement. Will they use todays existing 3G technologies, or jump right in with the next generation. We know now that Verizon will be using the Third Generation Partnership Project's (3GPP) LTE (Long Term Evolution) for its next gen network, a standard expected to be ready for deployment in 2010. Also ready for deployment in 2010 will be the 3GPP2's UMB standard.

WiMax will take some tweaking to work in the 700MHz band, but with Sprint Nextel owning 90MHz of the 2.5MHz band, that performance in the 700 band would be hard to match, should they decide to go ahead with their WiMax project.

Vendors and equipment manufactures say go ahead and deploy todays 3G technologies and upgrade later. Both Wideband CDMA and CDMA EV-DO still have some life left and would fit into the FCC's plan nicely.

Whoever the winners are, and whatever technology they the kuala lumpur one only has to look at the evolution of the WiFi standard as it goes through its b, g, and now n revisions, to see how technology improves as the tail wags the dog.

Just in case it doesn't work out, the White Spaces Coalition is already pushing to use the empty "white space" adsl broadband internet between channels in the wireless broadband to 698MHz range for broadband access, with speeds topping out at 80Mbps...but that's another story.

Use your Computer to make Cheap Long-Distance Telephone Calls

What is VoIP?

Simply put, VoIP refers to the carriage of voice signals over the Internet. PC to Phone VoIP refers to using your 'Internet-connected' computer to make calls to conventional telephones around the world. Whereas traditional telephone calls take place over fixed line circuit switched?networks, VoIP calls are routed through the Internet using tm streamyx email far more efficient method known wireless broadband service packet switching? Whilst carrying voice data more efficiently via the Internet is a benefit, the main advantage that VoIP has is one of cost. For example, a typical PC to Phone VoIP call to a telephone in the United States from anywhere in the world tmnet streamyx hotspot runs at just a few cents per minute. Keep in mind, the clarity/quality of PC to Phone calls is usually as good and in many cases better than that of a comparable Phone to Phone call.

How can it be so cheap?

Herein lies the beauty of PC to Phone calls. By using the Internet to route your calls, long-distance charges imposed upon you by the major telecommunications companies (Bell, Sprint, AT&T, etc) are all but eliminated. Furthermore, many of the governmental levies and fees malaysia holidays with using the highly regulated traditional?telephone streamyx online are also avoided. The result? Extremely cheap, long distance calling to conventional telephones around the world with little or no loss of call quality.

So how does it work?

In a typical PC to Phone call, your computer receives your voice input via a microphone and then translates your voice into a data packet? This packet of data is then transmitted via the Internet to as close as possible to the physical destination of the telephone youre calling. Your voice data packet?is then switched to the conventional telephone network and routed to the phone that you are calling. All of this data transmission, translation and switching takes place transparently and extremely quickly. Chances are that the person whom youre calling would have no idea that youre talking to them using your computer.

So what do you need?

In order to start making long-distance telephone calls using your computer, youll need a computer thats connected to the Internet, a microphone and speakers (a headset with a boom microphone is ideal). Its worth mentioning that although there are several companies that support both the Linux and Macintosh platforms (e.g., www.skype.com), the vast majority of PC to Phone software is designed for use on Windows?compatible PCs. As far as your Internet connection goes, the faster the better (e.g., high speed Cable or ADSL). However, PC to Phone does also work on dial-up Internet connections (the way I access the Internet).

The next thing to do is choose a PC to Phone Service Provider. These are the companies that provide the software and infrastructure necessary for you to make calls to conventional telephones via the Internet. There are many Service kuala lumpur bangsar and each have their own benefits and rates so its a good idea to shop around. Almost all of them allow for pay-as-you-go usage (i.e., on a per minute basis) however some also offer unlimited calling plans to certain destinations for a low monthly fee. Some of the better known Providers include

net2phone.com

iconnecthere.com

skype.com

Once youve chosen a Service Provider, youll need to open an account and deposit funds into that account. If youre reluctant to use your credit card online, many of the PC to Phone companies offer alternative forms of payment (e.g., wireless broadband direct deposit, wire transfer, etc.). Next, youll need to download the softphone?application from your service provider. A softphone is merely the interface program through which you dial the number of the person youre calling and usually only takes a few minutes to download on even the slowest dial-up?Internet connections. Softphones generally resemble the keypad on conventional telephones and work in much the same way. Depending on your service provider, the manner in which you dial out?will vary. Typically, the softphone will take into account where you are in the world and adjust the dialing settings accordingly. In other words, youd dial the exact same series of numbers into the softphone that you would if you were using a conventional telephone.

Once youve made a few calls to friends and family around the world using your computer, youll quickly realize the fantastic cost advantages of making PC to Phone?calls versus Phone to Phone?calls.

So whats the catch?

Whilst PC to Phone is terrific, it isnt perfect. There are some disadvantages that you should be aware of and these include:

a) Quality: If you access the Internet via a dial-up?connection (i.e., through a normal telephone line), you may experience call quality degradation if you are surfing the web and talking to someone via PC to Phone at the same time. In other words, the bandwidth?or capacity of your Internet connection?may be limited and this could affect your calling ability.

b) Echo: If youre using computer speakers to hear the person youre talking to, that person may hear an echo?of their own voice. This happens for reasons similar to that encountered with the speakerphone?function on conventional telephones. At the same time as you hear that persons voice coming through your computer speakers, your microphone will also detect the voice and re-transmit the signal back to the person youre talking to. This echo?can easily be avoided by using either a computer headset or by turning your speaker volume down so as to minimize the chance of your microphone picking up and retransmitting the incoming voice signals.

c) Cost: If youre calling relatively small and/or remote countries, you should check the rates of the PC to Phone Service Providers?to those countries before signing up for their PC to Phone service. For example, calling a country like Fiji in the Pacific Ocean is almost as expensive using PC to Phone as it is using a conventional telephone. The reason for these high rates to certain countries is usually due to the PC to Phone Service Provider not having the necessary switching equipment (required for switching your call back to the traditional telephone network from the Internet) physically located in that country. In these scenarios, your calls are routed through the traditional telephone network for a good proportion of the distance they travel and as such they attract many of the long-distance charges that the traditional networks impose. If youd like to call one country in particular, its definitely worth shopping around to find out whether prospective PC to Phone companies have the necessary switching equipment located in that country (and hence, can pass on the savings to you in the form of cheaper rates).

So give PC to Phone a try. Youve really nothing to lose and have the potential to save yourself a lot of money.

When comparing high speed office broadband Internet against dial up Internet there linksys streamyx malaysian much of a comparison, this is because there is such a difference in the speeds they both run. It almost does not make sense to compare them, except for the person that believes the only way they can have Internet service is to dial up because of where they live.

Dial up Internet can provide anyone with a telephone Internet service, the problem with this is not only is it much slower than a broadband connection, if the telephone lines are older it can also have a bad connection. A bad dial up connection can make the Internet service drop intermittently, the weather can affect the connection and if it is a phone that is not a dedicated computer line the Internet connection can be interrupted when the telephone rings.

These are problems that are not found with satellite Internet, this is because it does not use a telephone line, and in fact a home does not have to have telephone service. This fits the way many people live today, rather than having a home telephone they depend on their cell phone for all their calling needs. Having no connection to a telephone line means there are no interruptions when on the Internet to make a telephone call and the connection is not interrupted by telephone calls.

Satellite Internet is a choice people who live in areas where dial up Internet service is all they thought was available to them and it is a dependable way to surf the Internet. Unlike dial up service it does not have the speed restraints that dial up service has, what it does have is a high-speed broadband connection.

This type of connection makes downloading much faster whether it is a program or a picture and web pages load so quickly there is little waiting time no matter what type of flash, graphics or video is on the web page. Many of these types of websites are not possible to enjoy with dial up service, because it does not have the speed needed for the viewer to see these items. Dial up Internet service is seriously lacking when it involves videos on the Internet, which many of the popular sites have and it is not possible for the dial up user to watch these videos. If they are able to see them it is only after a long wait that splits them up while the video buffers and few computer users have the patience to wait for the video to buffer over and over.

Today on the Internet even some of the popular messengers have little graphics that dial up users have problems with and many of the game web sites require a high speed Internet connection. This means there is a lot of the Internet a dial up user is missing when comparing high-speed satellite Internet against dial up Internet. Living in a rural area is not a reason why a dial up connection is the only type of Internet connection, when broadband satellite Internet can be used in rural areas.

For all the satellite Internet information Rebecca Daniels is a top advisor for high-speed connections for every computer user. Hughes Net Offers is the number one satellite Internet Company with service for people who live outside the areas serviced by DSL and cable Internet.

With ever growing demand for better and faster access to the internet by consumers, category: internet service and access providers technology companies are rushing to develop internet service provider technologies to meet these demands. But there have been problems along the way.

One of the first problems to be considered in developing new technology is the current infrastructure or currently available malaysia forum on which broadband services are supplied. Most all broadband packages service in the world travels over standard phone line, which in most cases has been in place for many years. The lines are basically straight copper, in some cases there may be somewhat newer twisted pair copper lines, but none the less still pretty much standard copper telephone wire.

DSL was originally designed to be used over just such lines with the aid of line filtering, and has for the most part done its job very effectively. But with the increase in demand for high speed access, companies are finding it difficult to supply the increases in speed and reliability that consumers are demanding. One of the major limitations of DSL is travel distance. DSL looses speed and reliability the further away from the companies switching or exchange center. At the exchange, a digital subscriber line access multiplexer (DSLAM) terminates the DSL circuits and aggregates them, where they are handed off onto other networking transports. Ideally users need to be within speedtest broadband feet from the DSLAM server, using current copper line technology.

Other transport systems in many cases may well be fiber-optic lines that can handle thousands of times more bandwidth then can standard copper transmission lines. As companies upgrade systems, and more and more DSLAM terminals are supplied with fiber-optic access. DSL service to consumers will get better. The hope is of one day having fiber optic lines in place completely up to consumer use points, or in the home. To have a fiber optic infrastructure in place would open up vastly improved network connection abilities, but it isnt something that will happen any time soon. Upgrading systems will take many years.

In 2004 a technology was developed by Texas Instruments that helped the world leap ahead onto the internet superhighway. The technology called Uni-DSL which means One DSL for universal service?brought new elements to the world of DSL. Uni-DSL made it possible to add voice and video to data that could be transmitted effectively over a single digital subscriber line. It also helped local companies stream line their services while adding to the effectiveness of DSL service over all. VoIP or Voice over Internet Protocol was born of this new technology, as was on demand or live streaming video for the consumer

There are several competing forms of DSL, each adapted to specific needs in the marketplace. Some forms of DSL are widely used standards and some are proprietary. Due to existing infrastructure not all are available in all places. Each standard has its own unique equipment and protocol requirements. ADSL or Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line is the most common type in use today. Other types include SDSL or Symmetric DSL and VDSL referred to as Very High-Bit-Rate DSL. Both ADSL and VDSL have new technology associated with them that change their nomenclature slightly to ADSL2+ and VDSL2. These two technologies are both in use and are being further developed. Depending on who streamyx contract talk to, ADSL2+ is the best for users with distances further then 3,000 feet from the DSLAM center and VDSL2 for those in the short run distances.

The focus now seems to be on the upstream side of Broadband access. With more and more people working from home, and more families communicating over the internet, it doesnt take long to realize that although down stream speeds might be great, upstream or uploading information is still not meeting the consumer demand level.

If you have every tried to share a video from a camcorder with family members across the internet, you have probably noticed that it still isnt as easy as you might like. The demand for upstream bandwidth has come to center stage and is a large part of what is driving todays research and development.

But with every change, time is needed for it to filter into point of use. Every new protocol demands change in every aspect of how Broadband access is delivered to the consumer. From the program that needs to be written that will accommodate the new setups, the machinery that handles every aspect of the physical delivery system, to the modem you have that connects your computer to the internet. Everything needs to work together.

What will tomorrow bring for consumers in the way of Broadband access? Only tomorrow will tell. Some believe that we may have reached the limit of speed that can be achieved using existing infrastructure and until new fiber-optic lines are more readily available that speeds wont improve much. Yet new ideas and technology are still being developed to help bring better internet access to the world over existing infrastructure.

Will there be fiber-optic lines in every home soon? Someday, most likely, but not in the very near future. At present it just isnt cost effective for companies to implement the kind of changes needed to upgrade everyone to the latest and greatest types of DSL systems, but slowly as new systems are built and upgrades are made, where possible, fiber-optic cables are being put in place. With each upgrade, with each new system structure built, the goal of fiber-optic lines in every home becomes more of a reality for us all.

So is the DSL connection that you have now as fast as it will get? Today, maybe yes, but most assuredly the future will improve it, and who knows, tomorrow may be the day.
